TECH TALK: achieve your skin goals
11 March 2023Why self-care is integral to the wellbeing of a Mother
7 May 202310 years ago, as the sun rose over Bar Beach, I was officially initiated as a Reiki Master. Wow, a decade.
It’s safe to say a lot has happened over these past ten years personally and professionally but something that has never subsided has been my love for empowering others through Reiki healing.
I was recently asked why I chose Usui Shiki Ryoho, the type of Reiki that I practice, to which I replied, I didn’t – I was led to it. When I first started Reiki training, I had no idea that there were different types available, and neither do a lot of my clients when they first begin their Reiki journey.
To celebrate a decade of my Reiki Mastery, I wanted to share with you why I’m so passionate about Usui Shiki Ryoho, how it differs from other forms of Reiki and what to look for when finding your own Reiki Master to work with.
“A healing art” – this is how one can describe Usui Shiki Ryoho.
Considered a practice for life, Usui Shiki Ryoho originates from Japan and is a form of alternative therapy. It engages healing energy within the body to promote a sense of balance and calm, induce relaxation and support natural healing.
Unlike other forms of Reiki, Usui Shiki Ryoho is incredibly intuitive and focuses on one’s own self-empowerment, spiritual awakening, and self-awareness. Ultimately, you are beginning, middle and continuation of your own pathway to Reiki.
This journey is guided by four key aspects: healing practice, personal development, spiritual discipline, and mystic order. Each of these aspects are decided by an individual’s own awakening and progression, and not an individual being.
The practice of Usui Shiki Ryoho has not changed since its inception and consequently, honours the traditional teachings of Reiki. It sticks to the roots of Reiki as a hands-on treatment, where the practitioner’s hands hold space for the Reiki energy to travel throughout the recipient’s body and promote a sense of balance and calm, induce relaxation and support natural healing.
Usui Shiki Ryoho fits seamlessly in with the treatments we offer in the salon as you’re feeling what we’re doing. For many of us, when we physically feel something, rather than just seeing to believing, it can boost that connectivity much quicker, and you can begin to reap the benefits of Reiki.
Over the past decade, something that has been mentioned to us time and time again is how instantly calm one feels when they walk through the Beaute doors. Like a wave of tranquility rushing through their body, Reiki has allowed us to create a space for everyone to benefit from, regardless of whether they’re receiving a treatment that day or not.
This is something I absolutely love about Usui Shiki Ryoho and how by simply embracing its principles in the salon each day, we can bring a sense of calm and relief to our clients, allowing them a moment to pause, and just be.
There is no denying that there are certain opinions and stigmas that surround Reiki healing. Whilst I understand that it’s not for everyone, and the concept can seem a little ‘out there’, I encourage everyone to experience Reiki for themselves at some point in their life as it can be truly transformative.
From relief from pain and chronic conditions, ease of anxiety and panic, respite after shock or trauma, or a moment of calm to alleviate the effects of our fast-paced, high-pressure society, Reiki can seamlessly fit into your life as a form of self-care and treatment.
Just like one would book a facial, massage or trip to the dentist when they need care from others, you can book a Reiki session with our team when your energy is craving regeneration.
Teach or Practice
Not everyone is called to teach or practice Reiki, but everybody can benefit from the incredible healing and fulfilment it can offer.
When choosing your own Reiki Master to work with, there must be a connection between you and them. I encourage anyone looking to learn from a Reiki Master to take the time to research and find one who aligns with their values and purpose. A practice that revolves around connectivity, it’s integral that the Master resonates with them and provides them the space they need to thrive.
As some of you may know, my journey to Reiki Mastery has featured some career-defining achievements. I am a member of Reiki Australia, having held a board position with them for many years. I was also interviewed and accepted into the Reiki Alliance, an international association for Usui Shiki Ryoho Masters, where I continue to honour the traditional practice of Reiki on a global scale – aka it’s a big deal.
My Reiki Mastery has also seen me travel overseas to learn from Grand Reiki Masters, enhancing my own practice and enriching my Reiki journey monumentally.
Whether it’s your first time or five hundredth time, Reiki can be your north star to total wellbeing. Today, I offer Reiki teaching programs to support others beginning their Reiki practitioner journey, giving back to the world that has given me so much.
We also offer Reiki in the salon on its own or added on to any treatment. If you’d like to learn more about learning Reiki for yourself, or receiving a treatment, please look over our website and get in touch 02 4969 5562
